Casa Hamid is located a few kilometers from the coast. And near the old town of Almuñécar.

Almuñécar has no less than 19 kilometers of beautiful beaches. The sea is an oasis of peace and the beaches
are very suitable for families. From the urban beaches to the small coves surrounded by beautiful cliffs, they are all worth a visit.

Among the 26 beaches that characterize the coast of Almuñécar, the beach of San Cristóbal stands out the most.
Located west of the city, it is one of the largest beaches in the area. Here you can have a nice bite to eat in one of the many restaurants in the

Taste the delicious cuisine of Almuñécar

The cuisine is at the forefront of culture, and this is certainly the case in Almuñécar! Taste the local dishes and get to know the city even better. The traditional gastronomy is based on seafood (mainly bass, conger eel and bramble), which is no surprise given that the city is located by the sea. Together with the vegetables from the area, these products form delicious dishes. While here, try grilled seafood (known as “moraga”), the “atun encebollado” (the onion-spiced tuna), and the “papas con cazón” (dogfish with potatoes). Also try the “Calabaza frita” (fried pumpkin), “aguacate con gambas” (avocado with shrimp) and the traditional “sopa de ajo” (garlic soup). Did you know that Almuñécar is one of the leading producers of the custard apple? And that one of her best desserts is custard apple ice cream (helado de chirimoya)? Also noteworthy is that exotic fruits such as avocado, guava and mango are simply among the basic ingredients of the kitchen.

Below are a few excellent restaurants:

2. Restaurant Casa Paco - is on the Velilla beach promenade. It has a terrace with sea view
3. Sabina Restaurant - Puerta del Mar beach, near the promenade, with a terrace in a pedestrian only street
4. Los Geraneos Restaurant - sits on a nice little square and has real spanish food,
5. Bar Restaurant Antonia Andalusi

The town of Almuñecar is located in the center of the Costa Tropical, only 80 km from the 2 cultural cities of Granada and Málaga, both with an international airport.
There are 25000 people living in Almuñecar. The weather is nice all year round. Winters are mild and dry and summers warm and sunny.

Almuñecar is located on a hill between 2 rivers, bordered by the mountains and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Agriculture is important there, its fertile soil is ideal for tropical fruits. In addition to tourism, fishing is a major industry that is being developed without harming the natural beauty of this region.

The traces of the first inhabitants of Almuñecar can be found in Phoenician and Romanesque remains. The Moorish Castle dominates one side of the village on the Peñon del Santo.

The village itself is typical andalusian with winding narrow streets, balconies with geraniums and small sunny market places and squares. Sights are the church of "La Encarnación" and the archaeological museum.

And while you're there, you should of course visit the nearby city of Malaga or Granada.

The Alhambra in Granada is a Moorish fortress and palace on the hillside of Granada and one of the most famous landmarks in all of Spain. Alhambra means the 'red palace' and was founded by the Nashrid sultans at the time. You can easily spend a full day here, because at the Alhambra de Granada are also the summer palace Generalife with its beautiful gardens, the palace of Charles V and the Alcazar fortress. Worth a visit down then.

The Albaicín is the old Arab quarter of Granada center at the foot of the hill of the Alhambra. This (tourist) district has, among other things, a Moorish palace 'Dar Al-Horra' and a bathhouse. The district is a maze of narrow cobbled streets and small squares to wander through. You will have one of the best vantage points of the Alhambra Palace from the 'Mirador de San Nicolas'.

The Catedral de Granada is the 16th century cathedral in the center of the city, which is dedicated to the Virgin of the Incarnation. Granada Cathedral is a mix of Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque style. Next to the cathedral is the 'Capilla Real', the burial chapel for the kings.

Who are we?
We are Govert and Annalies van Boven - van Hest. At the beginning of 2021 we decided to turn our lives around.
We quit our jobs, sold our house and started traveling.

Keeping in mind that if we found a place that we both fell in love with, we would move to that country.

Through the coast of France we ended up in Spain, and we fell in love with this beautiful country, its nature and inhabitants quite quickly.
Long story short, after traveling through Spain for half a year and dozens of viewings, we came across this house. We bought it in May 2022 and have spent over a year renovating it.
That was also very much needed, and we have tackled everything. In addition, we wanted to make it as energy neutral as possible. We are happy with our house and what it has become and we live here most of the year with the exception of June/July/August/september.

We thought it would be fun to rent out our house in those months so that others can also enjoy this magical place. Because that's it, the fantastic view is different every night, both at the front and at the back (parc naturel, beautiful area). And the house itself is fully equipped, we have invested a lot of time and energy in it. We also hope and assume that our guests will show respect for this.
